Paragraph 2
2. Notes that in 2019, the EEA's total budget was EUR 52 059 228 (a 20,9 % reduction on 2018), of which EUR 39 733 971 (representing an increase of 5,3 % compared to 2018) came from the general budget of the Union; notes that the EEA is expected to play a key role (monitoring, reporting, validating) in supporting the European Green Deal actions and the 8th Environmental Action Programme1a; insists therefore the staff budget for the EEA should be increased to meet these obligations; notes that any future cuts will negatively impact the functioning of the EEA and the delivery of the European Green Deal; _________________ 1aProposal for a Decision of the European Parliament and of the Council on a General Union Environment Action Programme to 2030 (COM(2020)652)
