11 Amendments of Sylvia LIMMER related to 2020/2241(INI)

Amendment 15 #
Motion for a resolution
Recital A
A. whereas the European Parliament, the Council and the Commission have endorsed the goal of a climate-neutral economy by 2050, even though this is uneconomical, technically impossible and does not make environmental sense;

Committee: ITRE
Amendment 23 #
Motion for a resolution
Recital B
B. whereas Parliament has endorsed the goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 60% by 2030, even though a system based on renewable energy sources will not work economically, technically and environmentally in the foreseeable future;
2020/12/11
Committee: ITRE
Amendment 54 #
Motion for a resolution
Paragraph 1
1. SupportsTakes notes of the direction set out by the Commission in its Communication on a strategy for energy system integration; calls on the Commission and the Member States to ensure that it is implemented rapidly in a spirit of solidarity; encourages the private sector to contribute to its success;

Committee: ITRE
Amendment 60 #
Motion for a resolution
Paragraph 2
2. Believes that such a strategy can help the Union achieve its climate goals while maintaining energy accessibility and security of supply through the development of an efficient, integrated, resilient, smart and decarbonised system;deleted

Committee: ITRE
Amendment 116 #
Motion for a resolution
Paragraph 6
6. Recalls that the energy transition will require between EUR 520 and 575 billion in annual infrastructure investment; calls on the Commission to develop sustainable investment criteria which are fully in line with the climate and integration goals, and that renewable energy sources such as wind and solar are intermittent and variable and therefore not suitable for a central a.c. grid, as they are neither controllable nor base-load capable and thus neither ensure security of supply nor grid stability;
2020/12/11
Committee: ITRE
Amendment 137 #
Motion for a resolution
Paragraph 9
9. Calls for the mass deployment of renewable and decarbonised energy; encourages the Commission to propose more ambitious targets in order to increase the share of such energy in electricity generation, heavy industry, transport, construction, heating and cooling;deleted
2020/12/11
Committee: ITRE
Amendment 150 #
Motion for a resolution
Paragraph 10
10. Welcomes the adoption of the European Hydrogen StrateStresses that the production of hydrogen is very energy; is convinced that renewable and decarbonised hydrogen can help reduce persistent emissions from industrial processes and heavy transport which cannot be decarbonised through the use of zero-carbon electricity; recalls also the need to decarbonise existing hydrogen productionntensive, that additional considerable energy losses occur in the transformation processes and that there are high technical requirements for a currently non-existent hydrogen grid, which is why it should not be expected in the medium term that hydrogen will be profitable as an energy source from an economical point of view with the current technology available or that its production can be ensured in sufficient quantities;

Committee: ITRE
Amendment 181 #
Motion for a resolution
Paragraph 12
12. Stresses the need to accelerate research and development on technologies for CO2 capture, storage and reuse is not constructive for environmental and economical reasons;

Committee: ITRE
Amendment 190 #
Motion for a resolution
Paragraph 13
13. CallIs con the Commission to propose ambitious targets for the decarbonisation of road, maritime, rail and air transport; welcomes the Commission’s announcement of the deployment of one million charging points for electric vehicles; stresses the need to adapt the electrification networks for Europe’s vehicle fleevinced that battery-powered electromobility is already very harmful to the environment at the production stage of the batteries alone, which makes electricity supply more expensive and represents an enormous consumption of natural resources; stresses that batteries become toxic waste at the end of their useful life; maintains, therefore, that electromobility does not contribute to environmentally-friendly road, maritime, rail and air transport;

Committee: ITRE
Amendment 197 #
Motion for a resolution
Paragraph 14
14. Notes that maintaining the balance of electricity grids and managing demand and production peaks will be more complex with an increasingly decentralised and renewable generation mix increasingly endangers people's safety and health as well as economic prosperity; recalls that Member States remain free to determine their energy mix, the diversity of which is fundamental to ensuring security of supply;

Committee: ITRE
Amendment 230 #
Motion for a resolution
Paragraph 16
16. Recalls the role that green hydrogen can play in balancing grids by using any surplus renewable electricity productionat the conversion of electricity to hydrogen (H2) is not economical and leads to high losses;
