Urges the Commission and the Member States to incentivise public transport over private transport in order to achieve the 2050 climate neutrality targets; highlights the role of the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), the Cohesion Fund, the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) and the Horizon Europe programme in promoting sustainable and smart multi-modal mobility, with a focus on sustainable transport interconnections and infrastructure, public transport, shared mobility and cycling, as part of the transition to a net-zero carbon economy;
