Recalls that the ‘yellow card’ notification should be seen as a means to encourage the Vietnamese authorities to persevere in their efforts to tackle IUU fishing activities; believes that further extension of the ‘yellow card’ should be accompanied by clear operational targets and timelines; Vietnam should accordingly strive rigorously to combat IUU fishing practices, while the EU should monitor the situation and require scrupulous controls by Vietnam to ensure that no illegal fish products enter the Union market;
