Emphasises the importance of supporting short supply chains whose role has been also highlighted by border closures as a consequence of COVID 19, underlines that short supply chains can play a significance role in reducing the carbon footprint; also highlights the positive impact of short food chains which help to reduce food waste; and stresses the need to avoid over-packaging, whilst ensuring that food packaging is important for both hygiene and consumer information reasons;
