Urges the Moldovan authorities to ratify the Istanbul Convention which was signed by the Republic of Moldova on the 6th of February 2017 but whose ratification is lagging behind despite being mentioned as an explicit objective of the National Action Plan on Human Rights 2018-2022 and of the National Strategy on Preventing and Combating Violence against Women and Domestic Violence 2018-2023; recalls that violence against women and girls is prevalent in Moldova and two in five women have experienced physical and/or sexual violence at the hands of a partner or non- partner since the age of 15;
