Considers it important to fill the 9. identified defence investment gaps such as replenishing stockpiles, replacing Soviet- era systems, reinforcing air and missile defence systems, expanding existing main battle tank capabilities and armoured vehicles, strengthening naval forces and improving satellite-based secure connectivity; strongly calls on Member States to commit to a significant increase in funding for EU procurement mechanisms and to take swift and thorough action in this crucial field; stresses that investment must also be directed at improving intra- European military mobility by bolstering and modernising transport infrastructure with a view to its flexible use for both civil and military purposes;
