4a. Points out, in this regard, the importance of upholding the framework of competences set out perfectly in the EU Treaties and the importance of not encouraging interference in Member State competences; takes the view that the recommendations, improvements and areas of collaboration that the EU institutions may pass on to the Member States, such as those included in the conclusions of the Conference on the Future of Europe, must not clash with the exercise of the Member States' educational competences or seek unnecessary amendments to the Treaties;

Paragraph 5 – subparagraph 1 (new)
Stresses the need to remove from our educational centres any attempt to indoctrinate and impose on teachers and students ideological principles or political currents which, disguised as supposed universal values that no one can question, manipulate history, conceal traditions and cultural roots, and reject critical thinking, diversity of opinion and freedom of expression; calls for us to defend education in freedom, one which seeks excellence, meritocracy, a love of knowledge, skills training and personal autonomy;
