Paragraph 1 a (new)
1a. Stresses that according to the report of the UN Special Rapporteur on poverty and human rights, climate change will exacerbate existing poverty and inequality; it will have the most severe impact in poor countries and regions, and the places poor people live and work. Developing countries will bear an estimated 75-80% of the costs of climate change;

9. CEmphasises the interdependence of climate, economy and society; underlines, in particular, the direct effects that climate change has on indigenous communities and the acute existential threat that many of them, face; stresses that according to the IPCC, indigenous and traditional knowledge is a major resource for preventing climate change; calls for greater international support for indigenous land rights, which would contribute to limiting global warming.
