Reminds that the biggest free-trade barriers between the economic zones are not tariffs, but different regulations; believes that if the regulations are comparable when it comes to achieving the same social outcomes, which might likely be the case between the EU and the UK, a regulatory cooperation mechanism to promote mutual recognition in areas, where it is unlikely to be exploited, would be a useful innovation;

Underlines that dynamic regulatory alignment on the market surveillance of products and robustappropriate and effective product standards should be an essential and irreplaceable part of any future agreement so as to ensure a level playing field and legal certainty for EU businesses and a high level of protection for EU consumers through effective market surveillance; underlines that a level playing field, which includes mutual recognition, requires a horizontal mechanism, such as an overall governance framework covering all areas of cooperation, to ensure effective implementation, enforcement and dispute settlement through adequately resourced domestic authorities and effective administrative and judicial proceedings;
