Stresses the importance of the Commission’s proposal to introduce a harmonised front-of-pack (FOP) labelling system based on sound scientific evidence and supported by accurate impact assessments; calls on the Commission to take into account the actual daily intake of food and drink to avoid sending misleading messages to the consumer; takes the view that a harmonised scheme at EU level must be easy to understand and must not be misleading, and therefore advises against the use of colours that would convey a simplistic message without providing details of the method used to attribute them; expresses its concern that products protected by PDO and PGI labels might be penalised, since they are governed by production rules laying down the raw materials and production methods to be used, and as such cannot be changed;
