6. Reiterates the need for better scientific information and catch/effort data for fishing outside EU waters, especially in the waters of certain developing coastal States; notes that there is scope for providing funding for the collection of such data and for improved scientific analyses, using funds available under the European Maritime and Fisheries Fund and the European Development Fund; notes that developing coastal States that have signed agreements with the European Union are obliged to provide information on the activities of third-country fleets that operate in their waters;
