Calls on the Commission to help maintain, in the interest of putting the financing of non-professional sport on a secure footing, the current system of public funding of non-professional sport by contributions from state-run lotteries and other nationally licensed organisations that operate games of chance for the public benefit;

Calls on Member States to adopt regulatory measures which ensure that sport is protected from any improper influence associated with betting; believes that there is a particular need to reduce betting opportunities and address the risk of conflict between the economic interests of a betting company and sporting results; calls on Member States to prohibit the ownership or commercial involvement (e.g. sponsorship) of sports clubs by betting companies as well as links of betting companies with a particular sportsperson, unless the betting companies exclude that club or sportsperson from their sports betting offer;
