Notes thatRegrets the US President’s announcement of the country’sdecision to withdrawal from the Paris Agreement gives the EU the opportunity and reinforces its obligation to assume a leading role in climate action and to step up its; reaffirms the role of the EU as a leader in global climate action and reinforces its commitment to increasing climate diplomacy efforts to form a strong alliance of countries and actors that will continue to support and contribute to the objectives of limiting global warming to well below 2°C while pursuing efforts to limit the temperature increase to 1.5°C; highlights nevertheless the importance of closely cooperating with the US government, and in particular US states and cities;
