In agreement with the Commission, is of the opinion that it is imperative to explore the possible risks in order to ensure that the new technologies in question gain the wide-scale trust of society. The Commission should submit proposals in respect of the technological standards of radio frequency identification. At the same time, the abuse of personal data through unauthorised data readings must be prevented by means of appropriate regulatory tools;

CAsks the Commission to initiate a social dialogue regarding the Internet of Things, to provide information on the positive and negative effects of the new technologies on everyday life; calls on the Commission also to keep it regularly updated on developments in the dialogue with operators in this field and with stakeholders, and on the initiatives it intends to take;
