Stresses the importance of an EU governance structure for the digitalisation of industry that facilitates the coordination of national initiatives and platforms on industrial digitalisation; calls on the Commission to consider setting a non- binding orientation target, that allows the EU to remain a global industrial leader; underlines the importance of advancing digitalisation particularly in those regions that are lagging behind; expects that, besides industry leaders and social partners, stakeholders from academia, the standardisation community, trade unions, policy-makers and civil society as well as industry leaders and emerging innovators, especially SMEs, will also be invited to play an active role;
