Considers that family workers still represent the vast majority of agricultural labour in Europe, and that insufficient generational renewal is one of the major challenges faced by the farming sector across the EU, resulting in fewer farmers in the sector year after year; emphasises that the sector is becoming less attractive, especially among young people, and that this is a major cause for concern, because if we are to maintain the quality of European agriculture it must continue to be a forward-looking, attractive career choice that is recognised and well paid; calls on the Commission, therefore, to step up its efforts to ensure that jobs in the agricultural sector are attractive for young people;
