Notes that advertising makes a major contribution to fostering positive attitudes to alcohol, especially in young people, as alcohol advertising affects the point at which young people start drinking and persuades those who already drink to increase their consumption; stresses that studies also show there is a direct link between how much advertising young people are exposed to and how much they increase their consumption; calls on the Commission to propose a ban on alcohol advertising aimed at consumers;
