Considers that the establishment of a single European authority responsible for coordinating the fight against counterfeiting and piracy cannot be postponed; such an authority should be able to ensure better organisation ofenhanced cooperation among the various players at European level and the createion of synergies with the private sector and the authorities of the Member States responsible for combating counterfeiting; takes the view that this authority needs to be established in order to increase the authoritativeness of the EU position internationally and should raise the effectiveness of its anti-counterfeiting action;
