Is aware of the fact that although rapid economic growth in China has created vast wealth, especially for the urban population, it has amplified the disparities between urban areas and rural areas, where 50.3 % of China’s mainland population live, contributing to a process of urbanisation and flight from the land and creating a situation whereby in 2011, for the first time in China's history, more than half the country's population is living in towns and cities;
