Calls on the Commission, as a matter of the greatest possible urgency, to improve the knowledge and observation of climate impacts through the European Environment Agency, the Joint Research Centre and the European Drought Observatory, making use of new satellite monitoring technologies and intelligent transport systems whenever possible;

Calls specifically on the Commission to pay particular attention to mapping and assessing the impacts in mountain and coastal areas, where it is predicted that the rising temperature and sea levels could bring about significant changes in the tourism sector on which they rely heavily, and to propose measures where necessary;
