Maintains that the closure of public accident and emergency departments, remote care services, and home help services for persons unable to look after themselves, a measure to which some Member States are resorting for economic reasons, is contrary to the principle of equal access to public services and does the greatest harm to the most vulnerable groups in society, namely older people, children, people with disabilities, people on low incomes, migrants, and women, who bear the main responsibility for caring for dependants.
