Regrets thatWelcomes the fact that, even though the European framework agreement on harassment and violence at work (2007) is not binding; and for this reason calls on the Commission to submit a proposal for a directive on the prevention ofis not binding, in accordance with the subsidiarity principle, the various Member States use it as a basis for combating violence at work;

Calls for the ring-fencing of resources for labour inspection, high-quality standards in the education and training of labour inspectors, and tighter controls; calls forhigher-quality action in labour inspection, improved quality in the education and training of labour inspectors, and the carrying-out of controls with the necessary level of intensity; recommends guaranteesing that labour inspection is carried out independently of businesses;
