4. Asks for the elimination of all forms of discrimination against women in legislation currently in force in North African countries, and stresses the importance of the active participation of women both in drafting laws and in active political roles, on a par with their involvement in grassroots civil society organisations; emphasises the importance of informing and coaching women and men from all different backgrounds and societal groups about equal citizenship and electoral rights;

5a. Urges the Commission to highlight positive examples of female entrepreneurship involving women from North African countries or organisations comprising female European and North African entrepreneurs, including in the technological and industrial sectors; calls on the Commission, accordingly, to establish means of disseminating the relevant information so as to ensure that the fullest possible use is made of the experience gained in order to promote and raise awareness of the development potential of such activities in communities which have less dynamic economies;

Asks the authorities in North African countries to take sustainable measures to overcome the gender pay gap, fight against the increasing feminisation of unemployment and also to strengthen social protection in situations which are gender-related and, in particular, in connection with motherhood;
