Stresses that technology and infrastructure rely in part on the content provided by creators; calls, therefore, on the Commission to establish a legal framework for the value chain in the digital age that takes into account the specificities of the sector and leads to an improvement in the remuneration of authors and creators;

6. Asks the Commission, in view of the upcoming copyright reform, to create legal solutions which will suit creators, right holders and consumers alike in order to make clear that liability exemptions can only apply to genuinely neutral and passive online service providers and not to services that play an active role in distributing, promoting and monetising content at the expense of creators; considers that given the borderless nature of the digital environment there is a need to ensure coherence and coordination between regulators, law enforcement agencies and the judicial system, within the EU, but also globally;

Emphasises the opportunities that new ICT technologies such as big data, cloud computing, the Internet of things and other data-driven technologies can offer to the economy and society, especially if integrated with other sectors such as CCIs; stresses however that in order for CCIs to fully seize the potential for growth and jobs of new developments or technologies, the completion of the Digital Single Market must be a priority;
