Stresses that cutbacks in public services providing childcare have a direct impact on the economic independence of women – in 2010, 28.3% of women's inactivity and part time work was explained by the lack of care services against 27.9% in 2009. In 2010, the employment rate of women with small children in the EU was 12.7% lower than that of women without children, up from 11.5% in 2008;

Calls on the Commission to review the 2006/54 Directive, especially the gender pay gap as demanded by the European Parliament in its resolution of 24 May 2012 with recommendations to the Commission on the application of the principle of equal pay for male and female workers for equal work or work of equal value;
