Observes with serious concern the recent corruption scandal; regrets the statements by Turkish authorities on alleged mini-coup d'état carried by conspiracy allegations and that has resulted in mass arrests and partial investigations purging about 350 police investigators and blocking a second wave of investigations in the corruption case; underlines the fundamental importance of impartial judicial system and separation of powers as the core values of a democratic regime based on the rule of law;
