Calls on the Commission and the Member States to keep the issue of violence against women high on the agenda as Gender-based violence is both a consequence of the inequalities between women and men as well as an obstacle to equality and therefore should not be tolerated; Furthermore calls on the Commission to encourage national ratifications and start the procedure for EU accession to the Istanbul Convention as quickly as possible; notes that the immediate accession of all Member States to the Istanbul Convention would lead to the development of an integrated policy and to the promotion of international cooperation in the fight against all forms of violence against women;
