Points out that violence against women is still a major problem that needs to be eliminated using every means available to the Communities and the Member States, and once again calls on the Commission to establish a European DayYear for combating violence against women; congratulates the incoming Spanish Presidency of the Council on making it a priority to combat such violence and invites future Council Presidents to do likewise;
