Welcomes the Commission's proposal to the WTO to update and expand the Ministerial Declaration on Trade in Information Technology Products, also known as the Information Technology Agreement (ITA), setting a short time frame, in order to give an additional boost to trade in these products and to address the increasing challenges of technological development and convergence; supports the Commission's position that a change in ITA criteria can only be made on the basis of consensus amongst all ITA participants, as provided by the agreement itself, and not as a result of litigation by some members; regrets the Commission's interpretation of the current ITA, including with regard to set top boxes and multi functional printers;
