Calls on the European Council to focus on eco-innovation and jobs and growth generated by environmental policy as part of its responsibility for providing the necessary impetus for the development of the EU, making appropriate comparisons with what is being done on the other continents with which we are competing, and to ensure that environmental transition does not undermine EU competitiveness and does not result in deindustrialisation;
