Deplores the fact that criminalisation of expression is on the rise; recalls that journalists are frequently imprisoned worldwide because of their work; is aware that defamation, blasphemy and libel laws are used to imprison or censor journalists and block free expression; regrets that censorship fosters self-censorship; believes that the EU should continue pushing for the immediate release of wrongfully imprisoned journalists and bloggers.
