Emphasises the nexus between energy production, energy efficiency and water security; points out that additional efforts need to be mastrategies and concepts, such as the use of water for energy storage, are needed at European level to ensure that the growing demand for energy does not jeopardise water security; stresses that water use should be taken into account when assessing the sustainability of traditional as well as low-carbon energy sources, including in particular biofuels;
