Stresses that the recent gas crisis has shown that access to gas infrastructure in Europe is a requirement for market integration and the development of competition plays a crucial role in assuring the security of gas supply. Calls on the Commission and Member States to increase security of supply by promoting investments in transport capacity and by increasing the number of suppliers on the market and decreasing the dependence on traditional suppliers;
