Considers that a public EU-wide eCall service can coexist with private emergency services, as long as,an alternative to the public system, on the condition that all performance standards are met, both by the public and private services, and regardless of whether a vehicle buyer opts for a private solution, vehicles are equipped with a public eCall service so as to ensure continuity of the service EU-widein all Member States, throughout the lifetime of the vehicle;
