Underlines the significant importance of relations with the USA; welcomes the Commission strategy of relaunching the Transatlantic Economic Council, focusing on the evolution of future technologies and the development of standards in key areas such as low-carbon technologies, welcomes the further market opening of the EU-US aviation markets but regrets the absence of substantive progress in the USA to remove outdated regulatory constraints in the area of foreign investment since it would provide substantial economic benefits and create jobs for both consumers and freight operators;
