1. Notes that the European market for electronic payments is still fragmented both across and within national borders; takes the view that standardization should include measures necessary to ensure a more open, transparent, innovative and competitive single market that brings advantages to all consumers with regard to mobile payments, including mobile payment options and mobile wallets, interoperability, costs and portability; therefore asks the Commission to assess the possible ways of bringing new entrants - banks or non-banks - into the European market for card, internet and mobile payments while taking account of future technological innovations in this sector;

Calls on the Commission to examine thoroughly recent developments on the EU air cargo and express services market; notes that in the United States, FedEx and UPS are operating in a kind of duopoly in the express market and have in effect foreclosed the market to European competitors over the past 10 years; points out that, at the same time, the EU has steadily opened up its markets to US companies; concludes that the intended TNT/UPS merger would leave only one major European express and logistics company to compete on the EU internal market and globally; believes that this could have a significant impact on price competition in the internal market, to the disadvantage of consumers;deleted

4a. Calls on the Commission to ensure balanced bargaining powers between manufacturers and distributors in the field of online distribution governed by the Vertical Restraints Block Exemption Regulation (Commission Regulation 330/2010) to safeguard the ability of distributors to use innovative distribution methods such as online platforms, to reach a greater number and variety of customers, and to discourage discriminatory practices;
