Welcomes the Commission communication on enhanced intra-EU solidarity in the field of asylum, which calls for the translation of solidarity and responsibility-sharing into concrete measures, and for Member States to fulfill their responsibility for ensuring their own asylum systems meet both international and European standards;

Considers that joint processing could constitute a valuable tool for solidarity and responsibility-sharing in preventing or rectifying capacity problems, reducing the burdens and costs related to asylum processing, and ensuring a more equitable sharing of responsibility for the processing of asylum applications, provided that decision making remains the responsibility of the Member State;
