Underlines that progress in the building of the European Gigabit Society can only be made withis facilitated by a competitive market that can provide appropriate high levels of investment in network infrastructure in all the Member States; doubts whether financing models based only or primarily on investment funds will help fill existing gaps in the level of development of network infrastructure, and even out to ensure a robust, safe and reliable digital infrastructure for all transport modes, regardless of size or location; priority should be given to eliminating differences in the availability of high-capacity internet connections in border and outlying areas, as well as in non-urban areas;
