Mb. whereas approximately 42% of those regularly involved in agriculture in the European Union are women, and three in 10 farms in Europe are run by women; whereas promoting equal opportunities for men and women and, at the same time, involving women to a greater extent in business and society, especially in agriculture, must be matters of ongoing concern in Europe;

Asks the Member States to include strategies in rural development programmes to boost the number of jobs for women in rural areas, thereby assuring them of decent pensions, and policies encouraging the presence of women on political, economic and social forums in said sector and furthering the promotion of equal opportunities in rural areas in line with the multifunctionality of agriculture;
