1 a. Recalls that the EU, as major trade player, shall do its utmost to contribute to re-strengthening the multilaterally constructed World Trade system, by drawing up new proposals and taking concrete initiatives to make it fair, democratic, more respectful of the hierarchy of norms and more coherent with environment, development and cultural diversity; considers, therefore, that the Commission must have all the necessary capacity for this work;

1 b. Considers it necessary to develop and support all instruments allowing European citizens to be adequately informed about the international trade policy of the European Union that have consequences on their daily life; calls, therefore, for the launch of a pilot project for an independent and interdisciplinary permanent trade negotiations assessment structure - Trade Watch - under the respective budget line;

5. Warns that the EU's objectives of enhancing trade inclusiveness and international economic cooperation and stability must be reflected in the budgetary allocations for the Aid for Trade, the Partnership Instrument and the Instrument for Macro-Financial Assistance; opposes thereforestresses that the Commission may not reduce payments related to obligations signed in trade or partnership agreements with developing countries; opposes also decreasing the allocation of the European Globalization Fund.;
