Believes that better coordination of R&D in the field of tourism will result in benefits for the sustainability of the tourism sector; supports the creation of information and communication technology (ICT) platforms in the field of tourism to facilitate adjustment by businesses in the tourism industry to the development of ICTs, to enable tourism businesses – particularly SMEs – to speed up the deployment of information society tools and services and to contribute to the industry’s competitiveness;

Stresses that the role of enterprises, including SMEs, should be widely recognised when developing tourism policy in Europe; believes that the legislative and fiscal framework should therefore be more business-friendly,friendly to these enterprises and take into account specific needs of enterprises in the tourism industry such as flexible working time arrangements;
