Calls for a substantial part of the next research framework programme to be earmarked for applied R&D in farm-inputs management in order to reduce input costs and improve agronomic practices, including involvement and improved training and capacity building for farmers and better collaboration between public and private science organisations and farmers organisations; draws attention to the innovative role that the EU technology platform for research into organic farming could play in this area;
