Points out that developing countries can be helped to overcome their economic backwardness by a dynamic, ambitious, and socially responsible private sector; notes that in developing countries, therefore, small and medium-sized businesses, and family-run microenterprises in particular, have a key role to play; draws attention to the fact that commitments whereby business in developed countries becomes involved in development cooperation initiatives are one of the factors central to the implementation of the Millennium Development Goals;
