Calls for the Commission, through the structural and investment funds and by other financial and non-financial means, to give generous and forward- looking support and encouragement not just to space research activities in the field of industrial and applied science but also too foster fundamental research in this field, because fundamental space research not only has a direct impact on applied technology but also provides the sector with highly-qualified staff, who are the most important innovation factor of all;
