Calls for efforts to be stepped up with a view to creating without delay a Community patent in order to improve the framework conditions for industrial property rights, implementing a reform of standardisation methods and bringing about international standardisation in order to safeguard technological leadership; takes the view, however, that the rules on standardisation should be carefully considered, in order to ensure the competitiveness of the EU industry;
