Paragraph 3 a (new)
3 a. Welcomes the extension of the Centre’s mandate1a but expresses concern that the addition of new tasks and its increasing workload has not been accompanied by sufficient corresponding increases in the Centre's staff and resources, and that such a shortage of staff puts the continuity of its operations under significant pressure and threatens the quality of the Centre’s work; notes with concern that budgetary and staff increase for the Centre during the pandemic did not appropriately respond to the enormous workload increase during the global pandemic; _________________ 1a Regulation (EU) 2022/2370 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 23 November 2022 amending Regulation (EC) No 851/2004 establishing a European centre for disease prevention and control, OJ L 314, 6.12.2022, p. 1.
