Insists on a reconsideration of the issue of limiting the transport time of animals destined for slaughter to eight hours, with some exceptions based on geographic conditions, and the option of longer transport of some animal species confirmed by scientific research results, provided that the r. This travel time could possibly be increased or reduced, depending on the species or the physiological state of the animal, in accordance with resulets on animal welfare are complied withf scientific research, validated by EFSA;

18 a. Stresses the key role to be played by retailers, food service companies, or food manufacturers to ensure that in their private standards, meat is originating from animals which have been reared and slaughtered locally and have been transported in conditions respecting their welfare;
