Underlines the importance of the role of women, and their full participation, in political and economical decision-making, especially in post-war peace building processes, democratic transition negotiations and conflict resolution, reconciliation and stabilisation processes, for the purpose of increasing awareness and attention, with a view to eliminating the discrimination suffered by women in the democratisation process under way in many third countries;

(6a) Stresses the importance of greater equality between men and women in the composition of EU election observation missions, since this helps to raise awareness of women's participation in the election process and in public life by promoting gender equality and women's rights in third countries in which a democratisation process is under way;
