Is aware of the fact that cohesion policy funding, which represents EUR 454 billion at current prices for the 2014-2020 period (32.5 % of the EU budget), is aimed mainly at promoting investment, employment and growth, and is one of the most important and comprehensive policiesy for strengthening economic, social and territorial cohesion;

Recalls the need to close the gap between the EU and its citizens; calls for the EU institutions and all stakeholders to step up their efforts to better communicate the tangible results and added value of this common, solidarity-based EU policy EU policy, which is beneficial to all Member States; insists that cohesion policy has an important economic and social impact, as well as constituting an important contribution to European integration;
